A Message from former IFC President, Kevin Aguas

The Interfraternity Council of Oregon State University is the largest student organization responsible for governing the largest collegiate Greek system in Oregon. The Interfraternity Council presides over 20 chapters and more than 1000 Greek men on campus in an effort to promote growth, brotherhood, scholarship, leadership and service within the community.

For over 90 years, fraternities at Oregon State University have strived for a higher level excellence. Through individual chapter programming and countless community service programs, fraternity men at Oregon State University have played an influential role on campus, within the Corvallis community itself and throughout the State of Oregon.

Since 1915, an enormous legacy has been crafted within the Oregon State Greek Community. The scores of men and women who have achieved great personal success and public service accomplishments is staggering.

Whether it is the only Heisman Trophy winner in the Pacific Northwest, Terry Baker of Phi Delta Theta, to Mercedes Bates, who went on to be the corporate image of Betty Crocker; a proud member of Delta Zeta, to the only human being to hold two-individual Nobel Prizes Dr. Linus Pauling, a member of Delta Upsilon. Combine this rich heritage with the presence of 26 buildings and spaces named for Greek men and women and you begin to understand the legacy within Oregon State.

Today that legacy is transformed into a vision that we in the Greek community are committed to fulfilling. A common vision shared by many: “United by a common bond we are a community dedicated to scholarship, leadership, and service”, a vision which we strive to live by.
